ASKO Washing Machines

Submit a review of Asko

ASKO is a company of Swedish origin that manufactures a number of Scandinavian-designed appliances, including numerous washing machines. Many of ASKO's washers are Energy StarŪ qualified and have a 20-year life expectancy. They also come in many different styles and sizes, including models that can be hidden behind a wood panel to blend in with a home's cabinetry.

ASKO's History

ASKO's history started with Karl-Erik Andersson's innovative washing machine. The Swedish farmer built a particularly efficient and effective model in 1950 for his mother. This first success inspired him to start a manufacturing company on his family's farm, where the business still resides. Other influences from the earliest days include the stainless steel drum which set a standard that the company still abides by. Andersson's environmentally-minded approach to building appliances serves as inspiration for the company's effort to produce products that use little energy and water. ASKO is now part of the Antonio Merloni group, which is one of the largest producers of white goods in Europe.

Special Features of ASKO Washing Machines

Several ASKO washers have a four-shock suspension feature that reduces the amount of vibration and noise they produce during the spin cycle. They also all feature stainless steel inner and outer tanks, which the company claims resist rust, odors, and chipping. Some also have a Super Rinse option that adds two rinses to cycles. ASKO's Designer Laundry Ultracare washer also features a smaller exterior, making it easy to install beneath counters or in closet spaces.

Energy Efficiency and ASKO Washing Machines

Most of ASKO's washers are Energy StarŪ rated or qualified, which means they conform to certain standards of the EPA for energy efficiency and water usage. Many models also have a QuickWash cycle, which uses less water and energy than other cycles. All of ASKO's washers are front-loading, making them more efficient than top-loading washers.
