Indesit is an Italian company that produces household appliances. Their products include washing machines, dryers,
dishwashers, refrigerators and microwave ovens. Indesit washing machines are sold throughout Europe, in the
Middle East, Asia, Africa and Argentina.
Indesit's History
Aristide Merloni began what would become Indesit in 1930 in Albacina, Italy. The company began a manufacturer of
scales and water heaters. In 1970, the company divided into three entities, and Merloni Elettrodomestici, the
home appliances division of the original company, became a separate company. It acquired Indesit in 1987 and
finally changed its name to Indesit in 2005. Indesit is now the second largest producer of home appliances in
Europe and fifth in the world.
Features of Indesit Washing Machines
Indesit's washing machines are mostly of the front-loading variety. Their UK machines have between a 6- and
7-kilogram load capacity. Their standard size is 85 cm in height and 59.5 cm wide. Unique features of Indesit
washing machines include self-cleaning detergent dispensers and settings for washing shoes and sports
clothing.
Indesit's Warranty
Indesit covers their products with a one-year warranty for parts and labor. They also include an additional
five-year warranty on parts if the buyer uses local Indesit technicians.
