Magic Chef Washer
The Magic Chef brand is owned by Maytag and distributes its small electronics through MC Appliances. The corporate
website does not feature a selection of Magic Chef products, instead customers are redirected to Estate
Appliances- also owned by Maytag - for a similar product list.
Magic Chef History
The Magic Chef brand first appeared with the American Stove Company in 1929. It was founded in 1870 by John Ringen
and George Kahle.
In 1951, the American Stove Company changed its name to Magic Chef because of the brand's increasing popularity.
Maytag acquired Magic Chef in 1986, and was eventually purchased by Whirlpool in 2006.
Maintenance of Magic Chef Washers
Magic Chef suggests replacing your washer's inlet hoses after 5 years, and performing inspections of your hoses
for bulges, kinks, or cuts. Taking these precautions minimizes the risk of hose failure and leaks.
The manufacturer also suggests winterizing your washer if it is not in use during the winter months to avoid pipe
damage. This can be done by shutting off both water faucets and disconnecting the hoses.
Magic Chef recommends putting 1 quart of R.V.-type anti-freeze into the basket and running the washer on a drain
and spin setting for 30 seconds. When the cycle is finished, the washer should be unplugged.
Magic Chef Warranty
Magic Chef offers a one year limited warranty for repair and labor costs to correct faulty parts or
workmanship.
