Washing Machine Compartment Capacity
The capacity of the washing machines in our database range from 1.5 cubic feet to 4.1 cubic feet.
The majority of washers have around 3.2 - 3.3 cubic feet of space in the main compartment.
Washing machines with a capacity of less than 1.6 cubic feet are considered "compact" washers.
Clothes washers with at least 1.6 cubic feet of capacity are considered "standard" washers.
The capacity of a washer is also occasionally measured by how many pounds or kilograms of dry
clothing can be run in a single load of laundry.
Other Considerations
Be sure that the capacity of your washer is no larger than the capacity of your dryer -- otherwise
you may not be able to efficiently dry a single load of wet clothes in a single run of your dryer.
